Six months ago, we introduced you to the 18-year-old Kent producer Vasser who impressed us with his debut offering ‘Whatever You Want’, which showcased “the kind of infectious beat-making that we want.” With only one other track in the interim, Sam Breathwick serves up his third self-produced recording ‘To The Wolves’. This track is the first to rotate around the British-German artist’s gentle Tom Misch-esque vocals as the focal point. Vasser’s repeated incantation reflects the trapping cycle of an unequal relationship, one that Breathwick himself experienced, the end of which provided the spark of inspiration for this track. Once again, his beat-making is on point. Hints of the Paul brothers bubble to the surface, with his own tempered electronic style taking full control in bassy synth swells, scratched vinyl, steamy guitar riffs, a rich piano, clipping trap and his soul-tinged voice. - HT
